The festival of lights - Diwali - was celebrated at YSS Dwarahat Ashram on November 4 and 7, 2018.
On November 7, devotees and children participated in the programme led by monastics - with both the physical as well as the spiritual celebration of this day marking the victory of good over evil. Early in the day, children had come in to arrange diyas (lamps) at various locations in the ashram premises. They participated in a chanting session with Swami Vasudevanandaji and received a special treat following that.
On this occasion, devotees participated in a special meditation followed by singing of bhajans.
In the evening, devotees, locals and others lit the lamps which had been placed by the children.
A brightly-lit ashram sparkled under the moonless night of Diwali in the mountains. As devotees stepped out of the meditation hall, they were served bhandara by the monastics.
The festival of Diwali was also celebrated on November 4 (the Sunday ahead of Diwali) by the ashram's Children Sunday Satsanga. The little ones came decked up in their special clothes for this occasion. Their beaming faces expressed their joy as they lit lamps in front of Gurudeva Sri Sri Paramahansa Yoganandaji's picture. They were joined by older devotees in this celebration.
