Paramahansa Yoganandaji’s Janmotsav celebrations at Dwarahat Ashram (January 2020)

The celebrations of Gurudeva Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda Avirbhav Divas began on January 4, 2020 with a cleanliness drive by Yogoda Satsanga Balakrishnalaya's students. Guided by their teachers and school coordinator, children enthusiastically helped clear roadside pavements. They thoroughly cleaned the entire area outside the school and the Ashram. Later, they were served snacks.

On the following morning, the Avirbhav Divas of Gurudeva, students led by their teachers conducted a kirtan programme, after the lighting of the lamp and prayer by Swami Lalitananda. The audience included YSS sannyasis and a large number of devotees who watched the hour-long programme. After the kirtans, 40 children from the school received scholarships from Swamiji. The teachers and staff of the school received woollen shawls from Swamis Nityananda and Madhavananda as a token of appreciation of their hard work. Swami Nityananda narrated various inspirational stories from Yoganandaji’s childhood.

This programme was followed by a bhandara in the school campus – where the school children, their guardians, devotees, staff, and their friends and families participated enthusiastically. Around 400 people were served prasad during bhandara.

A three-hour evening commemoration programme was conducted in the evening by Swami Lalitananda. Beginning with group Energization Exercises and a meditation session, Swamiji gave an inspirational talk on the Guru. During pushpanjali, devotees came forward to offer floral tributes at the altar as a mark of respect to the Guru. Later, they were served Guru Langar in the kitchen. On this special day the ashram campus was decorated and lit up with bright lights.
